This is the best way to select a pump, as the dealers know their pump lines much better than you. They may suggest a pump you don’t even know about. But for those who want to be educated consumers, here is how to do it yourself! I do not generally recommend that you buy an “off the shelf” pump at a hardware store for use on an irrigation system. Most of those pumps do not provide sufficient performance information for you to be able to tell if the pump is sufficient for your system. Off the shelf pumps are fine for fountains, draining a pool, running a sprinkler on the end of a hose, or other uses that don’t require precision. The wasted power used by the wrong size pump on an irrigation system can easily cost you far more than the savings you get from buying a discount pump. If you guess wrong and the pump isn’t big enough, you will become one of those poor people trying to unload a brand new pump at a huge discount on Ebay! Pump Curves A pump curve is a simple graph which shows the performance characteristics of a particular pump.

How do I vaccum the pool? I dont know if I turn the Veriflow to out and then where do I hook in the hose?.. Its my girlfriends pool and she just expects me to know. Thanks Oh then you DO need help. You attach the hose to the skimmer inlet.
Jan 28, · I’m starting up a mobile car detailing business in New Jersey and I tried hooking my power washer to of baby pool I have in my back yard but the power washer wasn’t getting any water but if I get a water tank will it get water or is there a special power washer I need or sometihng please help me out thanks a alot guys.
I purchased the intex pump. The attachments are too big for the inlet and outlet so i then purchased the adapters. The plungers are very noisy and allow air to get into the pump. I removed them and hooked the hoses up to the adapters directly. That worked as long as the adapters were new. This year the seal comes loose and allows air to get into the pump. I even tried allowing the top nut to be loose to allow air to escape.
This year nothing works. The pump is just too strong for the holes. I was considering cutting the holes bigger and glueing seals on there but i was concerned about creating weak spots in the pool. I am tired of spending money on it so i did the redneck thing. I can say that because well, you might consider me one. I took the inlet hose off the connector and plugged the hole with one of those little black things.
I took the hose and run it up through the hole in between the liner and the poles and down into the pool.

If the homeowner vacuums like normal, they have a good chance of contaminating their filter, plugging up the circulation lines, or just clouding up their pool. What is the solution? Those that have filters with the 6 way Multi-port valve can vacuum their pool on Waste. This position by-passes the filter and sends all the unwanted debris through the waste line. This eliminates clogging up the filter or clouding up their pool. Steps to Vacuuming on Waste: Connect the vacuum head to the T-pole and then connect the swivel end of the vacuum hose if equipped to the vacuum head.
Fully extend the T-pole and lower the vacuum head to the bottom of the deep end of the pool. Use care not to disturb any debris on the pool floor. Connect the skim vac to the other end of the hose and place over a return fitting to purge the air from the vac hose. At this time the vac head and all of the vac hose is in the pool. Keeping the the skim vac close to the surface of the of the water, make you way to the skimmer being sure not to let air into the vac hose.
Place skim vac into skimmer through the top or the throat of the skimmer on-top of the skimmer basket. Go to the Pool Pump area and turn the pool pump off.

Edit Answer for another minute I am going to asssume your pump also provides the circulation for the pool cleaning equipment. I also have to make some assumptions about your pool’s plumbing, which might or might not be right. Also, when testing do not run the pump for more than a few seconds at a time, because you do not know how much water it is getting – the psi might be just air pressure against the filter tank static head. I would open a drain valve somewhere downstream of the pump and make sure it is pumping at least a slight flow of water before running it more than about 5 seconds at a time for testing.
It would be helpful if while you do the checking, you had a family member turning the pump on and off so it runs as little as possible.
To hook up a vacuum pump: 1 Open up the vaccum port and turn off your skimmer port. 2 Reduce the flow in the main drain. 3 If you have more than one skimmer plug off one of them.
Free from hoses, whips and cords, in-floor pool cleaners operate by creating currents that drive debris towards the skimmer and main drain. Great Idea – and usually an in-floor pool cleaner works flawlessly. They are especially popular for desert pools or pools without a lot of tree leaf litter, as they can become overwhelmed with heavy debris. In addition to keeping the pool clean through smart circulation, in-floor cleaners also help mix pool chemicals faster and equalize water temperature better, than traditional pool cleaners.
I hope you find what you are looking for, if not send me an email! If dirt has begun to collect in one area of the pool that normally stays clean, the first thing to suspect is the overall water flow and operation of the system. The last thing to check is the pop-up heads themselves. Check and clean pool filter Check and clean pump and skimmer baskets, or main drain Leaf Traps.
Check pop-up heads and inspect for clogs or damage. Check the water flow valve or distribution head for assembly and operation. If all of the other banks of pop-up heads are working properly, or 2 out of 3 heads are coming up, but 1 or 2 heads are not coming up, you also want to check the flow first before you start digging into the distribution valve or pop-up heads. If you are wondering if debris or coins or something can get stuck around the pop-up head, while it’s in the up position, you are correct.
Pop-Up heads usually come up in sets of floor jets, and some types rotate as they pop-up. After the flow ceases to the bank of floor jets, the pop-up head should settle down neatly back into the hole.

For that reason, you need to clean your above-ground pool with a pool vacuum at least once a week. Pool vacuum setup takes only minutes, but you need to know the proper way to hook up the vacuum; otherwise, you might not get proper suction for the vacuum to do its job. Push the swivel end of the vacuum hose onto the vacuum head. You should hear this click into place. Some pools allow you to flip a switch to close the skimmer instead of using a plug.
Skip this step if your pool only has one skimmer. Push approximately 6 inches of hose at a time under water, starting with the end attached to the vacuum head. Push the skimmer adapter disk onto the vacuum hose. Open the skimmer cover. Set the disk and hose on top of the skimmer. Listen carefully to hear the skimmer suction out the remaining air in the vacuum hose.
Once you hear the change, you are ready to begin vacuuming the swimming pool. Tip Reverse the process of disassembling the vacuum when you finish cleaning the pool. Empty the pump basket and skimmers of collected debris.

It also prevents the pump from losing its prime if it is above pool level. The vacuum breaker allows air to enter when solar shuts off. This allows the system to drain back to the pool and prevents negative pressure in the collectors and plumbing.
